A Letter from our Chief

I want to welcome you to the official web site of Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue, Inc. Our site contains valuable information about our department, our community, and our members. I hope you will take the time to explore the different areas and links.

The Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue team consists of 11 career fire fighters, over 40 volunteer firefighters, and a full-time office manager. This dedicated team serves East Flat Rock, The Village of Flat Rock, and surrounding areas. Our two fire stations provide services to a geographical area of over twenty-six square miles with a population of over 14,000. That service area includes residential, commercial, and rural areas.

Our department provides the following services: Fire Suppression, First Responder (EMT) Medical Response, Rescue Operations, Hazardous Material Response, Fire Safety and Public Education among many other important aspects of the Fire Service.

East Flat Rock and Flat Rock are wonderful communities to live in. Our department, which has an ISO fire rating of Class 5, maintains a strong partnership with the community we serve.

To accomplish our mission, we need your support and understanding of our organization and the services we provide. I hope that our revised web site contributes to building an even better and stronger partnership between us. Please feel free to contact us or visit us at the Fire Station at any time.

Very Respectfully,

Brent A. Mendenhall Fire Chief
